Solar Process

What Is The Installation Process For Solar Panels?

Deciding to get solar panels installed on your property is not only a smart investment, it’s also part of an energy revolution. Never before have property owners been able to make a profound impact on how their energy is produced. Solar panels are the future. This is clear based on the large financial investments into solar technology by countries such as the U.S. and China as well as companies like Target, Walmart, Apple, and Costco. So why not you? In order to make the process clearer, let’s follow a homeowner that decided to go solar with us in 2020.

Meet Andrea

Andrea always wanted to own a house with a big backyard. When she started working from home in 2019, she decided it was time to start house hunting.

She was lucky to find...

the home shortly after it hit the market. The backyard has a beautiful patio with plenty of space for that dream garden. So as soon as it was available, she pounced on this Converse home

But Then She Got Her Electric Bill...

Andrea’s only issue was keeping the house cool during the long summer season. Her electric bill was double that of the cooler months. She knew her electric company was about to charge more, so she wanted to learn more about alternatives.

She did a quick google search for best solar companies in San Antonio and found Solar Edge Pros.

Meet Brian

Our Solar Consultant, Brian, listened to Andrea's bill problem, and checked to see if solar panels could help. He used her electric bill and home address to design a solar estimate on how much she could save by switching to solar.

State-Of-The-Art Software

Brian sat down with her and evaluated her home for solar using advanced software. Andrea discovered she would need 22, 320-watt solar panels to completely reduce her electricity usage charge. Andrea saw the panels would ultimately cost less than what she was currently paying, thanks to the utility rebate and, at the time, 26% tax credit (more about those here). Supporting local businesses was important to her, so she decided to go for the Mission solar panels because they were manufactured here in San Antonio. She decided to finance her solar panels for 25 years at a monthly payment of $107, essentially locking in her rate.

Awaiting Approvals

Going solar requires a roof inspection by our NABCEP-certified engineer. Once he confirms the structure as well as the solar panel layout design, we begin requesting permits. We require permit approvals from the city, utility company, HOA (if there is one), and the homeowner. This process can take up to eight weeks depending upon the the various agencies. The solar installation itself takes on average a few hours.

And Then...

monitor production in real-time

No more worries about her rising electric bill! Now that Andrea owns her solar panels, she won’t have to pay for electricity, and once her financing period is over, she will have completely free, renewable energy at her disposal. The best part is the solar panels actual help cool her roof down making her home less hot in the summer. To learn more about Andrea’s experience, check out her testimonial video on our Video page.

And now we continuously monitor Andrea’s panels and provide her an app to see how much solar power her panels are generating in real-time.
